AUSTRIA Vienna

The capital of Austria is one of the most famous cities around the world. This former Celtic and Roman settlement had over time transformed into a Medieval and Baroque city, and the capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It became a city of the arts and has played an essential role as a leading European centre for music since the age of unforgettable Viennese Classicism through to the early 20th century. Nowadays Vienna is still busy with its cultural life full of spectacular and interesting everyday events.

The historic centre consists of Baroque castles, beautiful gardens, and admirable streets. Ringstrasse is the street richest in historical sights, lined with grand buildings, monuments and parks. The highlights of Vienna sightseeing include the Gothic cathedral Stephansdom - St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Parliament, the City Hall, the State Opera House, Holly Trinity Column, Belvedere Palace, Schönbrunn and last but not least, the symbol of Vienna – Hofburg – the royal seat of the Habsburg family. Its museum provides historically accurate insights into the traditions and daily life of the court. Contemporary architecture is well represented by the Hundertwasserhaus, which is the work of the extraordinary artist Friedensreich Regentag Dunkelbunt Hundertwasser.
