The capital city is Sarajevo, the contry´s largest city has a population of 369,534 inhabitants. 

It is bordered by Croatia to the north, west, and south; Serbia to the east; Montenegro to the southeast; and the Adriatic Sea to the south. 

The country is a potential candidate for membership to the European Union  and has been a candidate for NATO membership since April 2010.  Additionally, the state is a member of the Council of Europe  and a founding member of the Mediterranean Union.

Bosnia's constitution does not specify any official languages. The Constitutional Court in 2000 verified the equal statues of Bosnian, Serbian, and Croatian.
